Union Cruises to Victory Over Bryan

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union Commonwealth University men's soccer team (6-2-3, 5-0-2 AAC) defeated Bryan (1-9-1, 1-5-1 AAC) 3-0 at Williamson Stadium Wednesday night.

FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWELATH 1, BRYAN 0

In the 49th minute, following a shot from Oriol Gásquez Pérez, Eduardo Ribeiro got the loose ball and scored his first goal of the season, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage late in the first half. The goal shifted the momentum in Union's favor as they continued to press forward offensively.

Union controlled the pace in the first half, outshooting Bryan 8-3, with four of those efforts on target.

SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 3, BRYAN 0

Early in the second half, Tyrique Bailey-Edwards doubled the advantage with a powerful header — his first goal of the season — off a perfectly placed cross from Nathan Porter. The Bulldogs kept their momentum rolling, continuing to create chances in the attacking third. In the 60th minute, Oriol Gásquez Pérez extended the lead to 3-0 with his second goal of the year, finishing a well-timed pass from Laurin Fürmeier.

Union dominated possession and tempo throughout the match, outshooting the Lions 18-6 overall, with 11 of those attempts on frame.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza turned in another strong performance, tallying two saves to secure the clean sheet — Union's ninth shutout of the season — as the Bulldogs' defense once again held firm.
