The Bulldogs Get Their First Win of the Season at Home against SCAD Savannah

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University men's soccer defeated SCAD Savannah at home on Sunday with a score of 1-0 in the final minutes of the game.

This game marked the first time these two programs have ever faced each other.

Union and SCAD battled through a scoreless first half, with the Bulldogs generating five shots. Isa Bramble led the attack with three attempts, while Laurin Fürmeier and Eduardo Ribeiro each tested the Bees' defense.

The stalemate carried into the second half as both sides fought for a breakthrough. After a red card in the 48th minute, Union was forced to play with only 10 men the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs managed just two shots after the break, coming from Oriol Gásquez Pérez and Ron-Jay Watson, while Gianni Loska nearly put Union ahead in the last five minutes with a header that sailed just wide.

Moments later, Union finally broke through. In the final minutes, Perez delivered a precise ball into the box, where Watson scored his first career goal into the right corner to seal the Bulldogs' first win of the season.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza was a steady force in net, recording nine saves to post his first shutout of the year. Many of Mendoza's saves came at critical moments, keeping SCAD off the board and preserving Union's chance to strike late.

The Bees finished with 14 total shots, while Union closed with nine, making the most of their chances down the stretch.
