Union Women’s Track and Field Make Their Mark in Season Opener

Danville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University women's track and field team opened its season at the Centre First Chance meet on Saturday.

Sprint Events

In the 60-meter dash, Kaidence Key finished eighth in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.24, after advancing with an 8.17 in the preliminaries. Five other Bulldogs also represented in the preliminaries: Ava Arnett and D'Mya White both ran 8.44, Kaelyn Halmon crossed the line in 8.48, Latalyah Sloan recorded 8.86, and Darla Delph finished in 10.16.

In the 200 meters, Sloan led the way, achieving seventh place with a time of 28.16. Halmon followed, posting a 28.75 finish while Ava Arnett crossed in at 28.85. Paula Sanchez Schultz finished in 29.64 and Darla Delph recorded 33.52.

Distance Events

Sofia Petz represented Union in the 3,000 meters, finishing with a time of 12:15.43.

Jumps and Hurdles

White paced the Bulldogs in the 60-meter hurdles, placing eighth in the final with a time of 10.12. She ran 10.22 in the preliminaries, while Lydia Workman posted 11.70.

Union had strong showings in the vertical and horizontal jumps. In the high jump, Schultz cleared 1.55m to take the bronze, while Kadence McQueen trailed closely behind, earning a fourth place finish with 1.50m.

Schultz returned to the runway in the long jump, leaping 4.76 meters to claim sixth place.

Throws

Abigail Bradley carried Union, earning 9.22m in shot put and 9.91m in weight throw.
