BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union Commonwealth University's men's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-1 AAC) drew against Montreat (0-5-1, 0-2-1 AAC) Wednesday evening in their conference home opener at Williamson Stadium.
GAME RECAP
FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, MONTREAT 0
The game remained scoreless for most of the first half until Oriol Gásquez Pérez broke through in the 44th minute with his first goal of the season, finding the left side of the net. Union outshot Montreat 10-3 in the opening period.
SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, MONTREAT 1
Union held the lead for most of the second half, but Montreat's Emilio Ruiz evened the score in the 86th minute with his first goal of the season. The Bulldogs continued to battle, but the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Union outshot Montreat 19-6 overall and held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Gabriel Mendoza recorded three saves for the Bulldogs.
