The Bulldogs win in four sets at Bryan
Dayton, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth University volleyball team played at Bryan on Tuesday night in a conference matchup. The Bulldogs won 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-14). Union has now won four games in a row.
Union's Raquel Kessler led all players in kills with 18. The reigning AAC Attacker of the Week also recorded 15 digs and six total blocks.
The Bulldogs had three players record double digit kills as Emily Shumaker registered 11, while Jasmine Porter totaled 10. Berkli Benefield tallied eight kills.
UCU's Maddy McGaughey had 31 assists, which was tied for the most by any player. Yanelis Turbi registered 15 assists.
Nicole Almestica led Union in digs with 20, while McGaughey recorded 18. Kessler's 15 digs put three Bulldogs in double figures for digs.
"We really started to focus and settle into our game plan," said UCU head coach Jeremy Wise. "We overcame some issues with the first set. Then, we locked in and stayed focused the rest of the match. Great win tonight as our subs stepped up and pushed us through some big momentum points we needed."
The Union Bulldogs are now 12-16 (10-8 AAC) this season, while Bryan is 6-20 (5-14 AAC). Up next for UCU is a home game against Brenau on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. That matchup will feature Senior Night for the Bulldogs.
