Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University softball team fell short on Monday in a home doubleheader against Tennessee Wesleyan.
Game One:
Union scored four runs in the fourth inning, but fell short 11-5 in seven innings. Megan Merritt, Kaley Harris, and Kinsley Redmon each registered a team-leading two hits.
Shaylin Lewis, Jeweleyette Lilley, and Briley Robbins also tallied a hit for UCU. Merritt led Union in RBIs with two. Harris and Lilley each registered a double, while Merritt recorded a triple.
Lilley and Fister each pitched in the matchup for UCU. Lilley allowed four earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
Game Two:
Union fell 14-0 in five innings. Lilley, Carly Cain, and Taylor Sain each pitched in the matchup for UCU. Cain pitched 4.0 innings, while allowing seven earned runs.
UCU is now 8-24 (6-16 AAC) this season, while Tennessee Wesleyan is 18-9 (14-8 AAC). Up next for UCU is a road doubleheader against Campbellsville on Wednesday, April 16, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
