UCU falls in doubleheader against Lindsey Wilson

Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University softball team hosted Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday in a doubleheader. The Bulldogs fell short in each matchup.

 

Game One:

The Bulldogs fell short 9-1 in five innings. Union's only run of the game occurred when an RBI single by Megan Merritt scored Kaylee Lawson. Merritt and Shaylin Lewis accounted for UCU's two hits in the matchup.

Carly Cain was UCU's starting pitcher. Cain allowed three earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched. Jeweleyette Lilley allowed two hits and two earned runs in 2.0 innings pitched. Katie Fister also pitched for Union.

 

Game Two:

The Bulldogs fell 16-2 in five innings. Union's two runs occurred in the bottom of the second inning to give UCU a 2-1 lead.

Kaley Harris was walked with the bases loaded, which scored Kaliana Pangallo. Merritt was walked on the ensuing at bat, which scored Kiara Wiley.

Taylor Sain was Union's starting pitcher. Sain allowed four earned runs in 4.0 innings pitched. Lilley, Lily Marsh, and Katie Fister also pitched for UCU.

 

The Bulldogs are now 2-2 this season, while Lindsey Wilson is 3-5. Up next for Union is a home doubleheader against Georgetown on Thursday, Feb. 27, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
