Union Men’s Track Concludes Centre Invite

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team competed in the Centre Invite at the Lisa H. Owens Fieldhouse over the weekend.

The meet featured strong competitors from 16 schools, with Union finishing eighth with a team score of 26.6.

Sprint Events

The 60 meters featured 52 athletes, with Collin Anderson leading the Bulldogs with a fifth place finish in the finals at 7.04 seconds, improving on his 7.10 in the preliminaries. 

Camahni John placed 18th in the preliminaries at 7.25, while Keith Hadley finished in the middle of the pack at 7.39.

In the 200 meters, Hadley paced Union with a 16th-place finish at 23.94 seconds. Kamese Higgins followed closely in 17th at 23.98, while Anderson and John rounded out the Bulldogs in 19th and 20th place.

Isaiah Spears represented Union in the 400 meters, finishing 12th at 53.90.

In the 600 meters, Connor Messer led the Bulldogs with a strong fifth-place finish at 1:28.35, followed by Torrean Thornton at 1:34.94.

Relays

In the 4 x 200,  Anderson, Hadley, Michael Albin, and Xavier Owens placed second in 1:33.72.

The 4 x 400 team of John, Spears, Messer, and D'Mauri Owens finished fifth in 3:37.37.

Distance Events

Jackson Crume ran the mile in 4:50.80, finishing in the middle of the pack, while Joshua Grubb completed the 3,000 meters in 11:33.12.

Jumps

In the high jump, Jayvian Breckenridge and Tyler Sturgil both cleared 1.77 meters, with Breckenridge placing seventh.

Tim Freeman cleared 3.10 meters in the pole vault.

In the long jump, Nicholas Blann earned a podium finish with a bronze-medal leap of 6.84 meters, while Breckenridge added a mark of 6.17 meters, placing 15th.

Throws

The shot put featured more than 45 competitors as Isaac Doneghy led Union with a throw of 10.80 meters, followed by Keenan Uhles at 10.33.

In the weight throw, Uhles paced the Bulldogs at 10.00 meters, with Calderon just behind at 9.85 meters.

Multi-Event

Valor Pennington represented Union in the heptathlon, finishing sixth with 4,018 points.
