Union holds No. 8 Cumberlands to scoreless draw

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Union Commonwealth University's men's soccer team (6-2-3) tied with No. 8 Cumberlands (5-3-4) 0-0 on Saturday night at UC Soccer Complex.

FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 0, CUMBERLANDS 0

The opening half featured a defensive stalemate, as both back lines disrupted attacks and limited scoring opportunities. Union recorded two shots, both from Ron-Jay Watson, including one on frame that forced a save. Roux Hardcastle made his Union debut in goal, registering two saves to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.

SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 0, CUMBERLANDS 0

The match remained scoreless through the second half as both defenses held their ground. Union was limited to two shots, both from Ron-Jay Watson, while Cumberlands applied steady pressure with 11 attempts but failed to find the back of the net.

Despite the Patriots' pressure, the Bulldogs stayed organized defensively and kept the match level to secure the draw. 

Dennis Botcher took over in goal for the second half, making his season debut and tallying two saves. He and Roux Hardcastle combined for four stops.
