Fürmeier Leads Bulldogs to First Conference Win

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Union Commonwealth University's men's soccer team (2-2-1, 1-0-1 AAC) defeated CIU (1-2-1, 0-1-1 AAC) 3-0 Saturday night in a conference matchup at Sessions Field.

GAME RECAP

FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 2, CIU 0

Laurin Fürmeier gave the Bulldogs an early spark, scoring in the opening three minutes for his first goal of the season. He doubled the lead in the 32nd minute with his second of the match, capping a dominant first half for Union. The Bulldogs controlled possession and outshot the Rams 8-0 through the opening 45 minutes.

SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 3, CIU 0

Patrick Taylor scored his first goal of the season in the 70th minute, assisted by Takuma Kiuchi, giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead as Union secured a shutout over CIU.

The Bulldogs dominated the match, outshooting the Rams 15-4 and holding a 6-0 advantage in shots on goal. 

Isa Bramble led the attack with three shots, while Fürmeier, Oriol Gásquez Pérez, Jordan Blake and Ron-Jay Watson each recorded two. George Goulingay, Tyrique Bailey-Edwards, Taylor and Nathan Porter contributed one shot apiece.
