Major: Exercise Science
Branson Smith’s favorite part about Union is the people—he says everyone is always kind and welcoming no matter where he goes on campus. Outside of football, he enjoys fishing and helping his grandpa on the farm every summer.
Branson dreams of becoming a physical therapist, driven by his passion for helping others overcome challenges. His favorite subject in high school was English, and he looks up to Trent Williams as his football icon. His go-to drink is Dr Pepper, and his favorite road trip snack is beef jerky. When it comes to meals, you’ll find him enjoying steak and crab legs.
He’s most active on Instagram, and shares his home with two dogs—a German Shepherd and a Cocker Spaniel. Branson considers himself an unselfish teammate and hopes to be remembered as both a good person and a good football player.
Someone who’s made a big difference in his time at Union is Coach Day, who Branson describes as an excellent coach and an even better person. His mom is also a Union alum, having earned her master’s degree there. Off the field, baseball is his second-best sport.
