Tale of Two Halves: Football Falls Campbellsville

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – As cliché as it is, Saturday's game was truly a tale of two halves. Union College stood toe-to-toe with Campbellsville University (Ky.) during the first 30 minutes, but the visiting Tigers seized control of the second half en route to the 52-14 outcome.

The loss puts Union at 0-4, while Campbellsville improves to 1-2.

BACK-AND-FORTH FIRST QUARTER

After falling behind 6-0, the Bulldogs scored back-to-back touchdowns to grab a 14-6 lead in the opening quarter.

JeQuerius Wilson set up Union's first score as he intercepted a pass on the Union 22 and returned it to the Campbellsville 49. On the very next play, Kendrick Furness hit a wide-open Immanuel Dawsey for a 49-yard scoring strike to make it 7-6 with 9:07 on the clock.

Later in the quarter, Union put together a seven-play, 86-yard scoring drive to extend its lead to 14-6. Furness capped the drive by hitting Earl Wells on a short pass play, and Wells weaved his way through the secondary to make his way to the end zone with 4:40 left in the first.

Campbellsville, though, closed out the quarter with a Kendon Young 9-yard touchdown run and a 2-point conversion to tie things up at 14-all.
