Major: Middle School Mathematics

Ava Ledford is pursuing a degree in Middle School Mathematics and is excited to follow in her family’s footsteps in education. “I grew up in an education household,” she says, “and I can’t wait to inspire others to want to become a teacher like me.”

Ava’s favorite thing about Union Commonwealth University is that it’s close to home. “I love my hometown!” she shares. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys camping, hanging out with friends, dancing, and lifting weights—anything adventurous is right up her alley.

Her go-to meal is grilled chicken, with Barnum’s Animal Crackers as her top road trip snack and water as her favorite drink. She’s most active on TikTok, where she’s even gained a bit of fame!

Ava considers herself an encouraging teammate who finds joy in seeing others succeed, and she hopes to be remembered for her kindness to everyone. One of her biggest supporters at Union is Coach Lisa Napier, who she says has always been her #1 fan. Ava’s father, Jeremy Ledford, is also a proud Union graduate.
