Major: Criminal Justice

Ireon Jones is a Criminal Justice major who enjoys Union’s welcoming environment—especially the food events where everyone comes together to play games, hang out, and build community.

Her dream job is to become a private investigator or FBI agent, inspired by a lifelong interest in solving cases, puzzles, and watching crime documentaries. She’s always been fascinated by the fieldwork and the challenge of uncovering the truth. In high school, Ireon’s favorite subjects were Sports Medicine and Psychology, as both connect to her passion for understanding the human body and mind—skills she believes are essential in criminal investigations.

Outside of academics, she loves meeting new people, exploring new places, shopping, and eating Chipotle. Her favorite meals include seafood, sushi, Olive Garden, burgers, ramen noodles, and PB&Js. Her go-to drinks are water, Sprite, and fruit punch. For road trips, she enjoys Buc-ee’s banana pudding, a beef sandwich with BBQ sauce, and cotton candy on a good day. Her favorite social media platforms are TikTok and Instagram. She also has a dog named Fluffy.

As a teammate, Ireon sees herself as someone who works hard without needing to be watched—someone who enjoys pushing herself to her limits and setting the bar high. She also values fun, competition, and bringing energy to those around her. Her second-best sports are track and basketball. Though she doesn’t have a specific icon, Ireon hopes to become one herself—especially for younger athletes—by showing that hard work and belief in yourself can lead to success no matter the obstacles.

Ireon wants to be remembered for her adventurous spirit, positive energy, and her kind, bubbly personality. She strives to be supportive of others and bring out the best in everyone around her.

One of the most meaningful moments in her Union journey came from Coach Wise. Before he left, he gave her a tour during her visit—showing her scenic views, introducing her to KFC for the first time, and taking her to a waterfall, a beachy spot off the highway, and more. That experience made her fall in love with the school. It was also when she met her future roommate and teammate, Kennedy—making her decision to come to Union feel even more right.
