Barbourville, Ky. – The Union College volleyball team hosted Milligan on Thursday night. The Bulldogs fell short in three sets.
Union began the first set by outscoring Milligan 8-4, but the Bulldogs fell 25-13 in the opening set. In the second set, Union took a 15-14 lead following a 5-0 run. Milligan countered with a 6-0 run en route to winning the set 25-22.
Trailing 16-12 in the third set, the Bulldogs went on a 3-0 run. Milligan countered with a 9-0 run to win the game. Milligan won 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-15).
Raquel Kessler and Jasmine Porter each tallied a team-leading eight kills. Nicole Almestica recorded seven digs, which led the team. Michaela Cox led the team in solo blocks with two.
The Bulldogs are now 6-13 (6-5 AAC) this season, while Milligan is 14-6 (8-2 AAC). Up next for Union is a home conference game on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11:00 a.m. against Pikeville.
