Union women's swimming secures 12 first-place finishes in win over Midway
Versailles, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University women's swimming team traveled to Versailles, Kentucky, and earned a 163-62 win over Midway University.
The Bulldogs secured 12 first-place finishes.
The relay team of Lise Puissant, Emma Phillips, Dorottya Józsa, and Isadora Silveira e Silva took first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.84.
Manca Petrič claimed first place in the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:29.78. Finishing just behind her in second place was Sofi Del Rincon Aldana.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Józsa secured the top spot with a time of 2:59.01, while Puissant earned second place.
Emma Phillips took second place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.00, while Giulia Liberti claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke. She finished in 1:10.68.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Silveira e Silva earned first place with a time of 25.22, followed closely by Ceci Gimenez Martinez in second.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Jósza took first place with a time of 55.06, followed by Silveira e Silva in second.
Sami Sierocki claimed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:28.59. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Phillips secured first place in 2:33.54, with Liberti finishing second.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Petrič took first with a time of 5:31.60, while Puissant finished second. Petrič also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.86.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Józsa claimed first at 2:12.50, with Phillips in second.
The relay team of Petrič, Erin Pease, Sierocki, and Puissant sealed the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking 1:48.74.
Next up for Union women's swimming is the AAC Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
