Union Women’s Soccer Drops Conference Road Match at CIU

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Union Commonwealth University's women's soccer team (0-6-0, 0-2-0 AAC) lost against CIU (4-1-1, 2-0-1 AAC) 4-1 Saturday evening in a conference matchup at Sessions Field.

GAME RECAP

FIRST HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, CIU 2

The Rams struck first in the 13th minute when Lohrane Boaventura found the back of the net off an assist from Lily Jackson. Union answered in the 27th minute as Lily Huckerby scored her second goal of the season, assisted by Iyana Campbell.

With the match tied 1-1, CIU regained the lead just before halftime as Zamaria Baugh scored on an assist from Boaventura.

SECOND HALF: UNION COMMONWEALTH 1, CIU 4

Boaventura struck again early in the second half, converting a penalty kick for her second goal of the match. CIU added to its lead in the 70th minute when Callie Rowe scored off Jackson's second assist of the night.

Union finished with seven shots, including five on goal. Charlotte Jensen led the Bulldogs with three attempts, while Campbell had two. Huckerby and Lupita Jimenez each added one shot.

Goalkeeper Chiara Isanto tallied three saves in the match.
