Barbourville, Ky. – Union Commonwealth University has selected Casey Mclellan as the Bulldogs' new head women's soccer coach.

Mclellan spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Emporia State University, which is an NCAA Division II school in Emporia, Kan.

The Hornets won the 2023 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Tournament, while advancing to the Third Round of the 2023 NCAA DII National Tournament.

Mclellan has spent four years as a soccer coach with Challenger Sports, which oversees teaching the fundamentals of the game to youth.

He received a bachelor's degree in Professional Policing from the University of Central Lancashire, while later receiving his master's degree in Business Administration from Emporia State.

"I am excited to work with this amazing group of student-athletes," Mclellan said. "I want to help them grow as players, but more importantly as good people. My goal is to support them through their time at Union through a player-centered approach and set them up to succeed at Union and beyond."

Union's Vice President of Athletics Clay Butler is excited to have Mclellan at Union.

"We are thrilled to welcome Casey Mclellan as the new head coach of the Union Commonwealth University women's soccer program," Butler said. "Casey brings a strong passion for player development, a competitive spirit, and a clear vision for building a program rooted in excellence both on and off the field. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding our student-athletes to success, and we are confident he will be a tremendous asset to our athletic department and university community."
