Gainesville, Ga. – The Union College women's basketball team fell short at Brenau on Thursday night. The Bulldogs were 16-of-39 from 3-point range, but the Golden Tigers won 70-60. Tonight's matchup marks the most made 3's by Union since making 16 in its 78-74 victory at Johnson on 11-8-22.
Rachel Smith came close to registering a double-double in the matchup. Her 21 points is tied for the second most by a Bulldog this season, while her seven made 3-pointers and nine assists are each the most.
Ciara Uphoff also scored in double figures with 12 points, while going 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Claire Belcher, Madison Cox, Ja'Naia Moran, Mylaiysha Norman, and Haley Brock each made one 3-pointer for the Bulldogs. McKenzi Himes, Madison Brady, and Morgan Blakley also scored for Union.
Union won the rebounding battle 42-40 with the fourth most rebounds by the Bulldogs this season. For the second game in a row, Union tallied 17 assists.
The Bulldogs are now 2-14 (2-8 AAC) this season, while Brenau is 6-6 (5-5 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against an undefeated Reinhardt team on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2:00 p.m.
