Bio

Sydnie Wimpee serves as the Assistant Softball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Union Commonwealth University. A native of Ojai, California, she is a proud graduate of Nordhoff High School (Class of 2019), where she made history as the school's first and only NCAA Division I athlete. During her standout high school career, Wimpee earned numerous accolades including Pitcher of the Year (3x), Offensive Player of the Year (3x), Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP (4x). She was named to the First Team All-County three times, earned the title of Ventura County Athlete of the Year, and was inducted into both the Nordhoff High School and Ventura County Halls of Fame. She threw seven no-hitters, including a perfect game, and was honored as the California Small School Pitcher of the Year while leading her team to a CIF Championship.

Wimpee began her collegiate playing career at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Selling and Sales Management with minors in Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship in 2023. On the field, she was a three-time GFDF Pitcher and Player of the Week, tossing multiple complete game one-hitters. She later continued her playing career at the University of San Diego, where she earned WCC Pitcher of the Week honors and notably threw a complete 9-inning victory over Arizona State, allowing just two hits. She completed a master’s certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Today’s Athletes at USD in 2024.

Before joining Union Commonwealth, Wimpee coached for a season at the University of Notre Dame as an Assistant Hitting and Catching Coach. She holds a coaching certification through her graduate studies and brings a strong passion for player development and mentorship.

Off the field, Sydnie is the only child of Tami Barbey and Jake Wimpee. She enjoys all things outdoors and spends much of her free time competitive bass fishing.
