COLUMBIA, Ky. – Union Commonwealth University softball (7-21) dropped both games of a doubleheader to Lindsey Wilson College (22-3) Wednesday night at Marilyn D. Sparks Park, 8-0 and 9-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Lindsey Wilson 8, Union Commonwealth 0 (6 innings)
Lindsey Wilson opened the scoring with a home run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. An RBI single later in the inning extended the advantage to 2-0.
The Blue Raiders added to their lead in the second inning with a sacrifice fly and a two-run home run to make it 5-0.
Lindsey Wilson continued to build momentum in the third inning, using a sacrifice bunt to plate another run and push the lead to 6-0.
Union was unable to generate offense throughout the game as the Blue Raiders sealed the win in the sixth inning with a two-run double to secure the 8-0 run-rule victory.

Union Commonwealth struck first in game two, plating a run in the opening inning as Lily Allen delivered an RBI single to left field to score Kenley Vanbibber for a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs' advantage was short-lived, however, as Lindsey Wilson answered with a seven-run bottom of the first to take control at 7-1.
Union cut into the deficit in the third inning when Elizabeth Smith launched a solo home run to make it 7-2, but the Blue Raiders responded later in the frame with an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-2.
Lindsey Wilson added another run in the fifth inning on a solo home run to push the margin to 9-2.
Despite scoring early and adding a mid-game spark, the Bulldogs were unable to generate further offense down the stretch and ultimately dropped game two.
