Union men’s swimming breaks eight records at the Bulldog Invite
Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University men's swimming team broke several records at the Bulldog Invite.
The Bulldogs broke eight school records across multiple events.
Abel Eszenyi broke the 200-yard individual medley record with a time of 1:52.64, surpassing Wiktor Perkowski's 2019 mark of 1:52.81. Eszenyi also set a new record in the 400 IM, finishing in 4:01.57 to best Ivar De Jong's 2016 record of 4:02.19.
Enzo Constable broke three of his own program records. In the 50 freestyle, Constable finished in 19.97, lowering his previous record of 20.37 set earlier this season at the King Invite. This performance also earned him a spot at the Toyota U.S. Open.
He improved his 100 butterfly record, swimming a 48.09 to surpass the 48.73 he posted at the King Invite. Additionally, Constable broke his 100 freestyle record for the third time this season with a time of 44.46, moving out the 44.54 he recorded against Asbury.
The team of Zsombi Sipaki, Dmitrii Bulakh, Cezary Leiman, and Constable broke the program's 200-yard medley relay record, finishing in 1:31.25. The previous record of 1:31.85 was set in 2013 by L. Glavinos, V. Rossi, T. Strachan, and J. Snider.
During the relay, Sipaki set a new 50 backstroke record with a time of 23.58, beating Louis Paschal Glavinos Jr. 's 2012 mark of 23.67.
The same relay team also claimed the 400 medley relay record, clocking in at 3:22.82 to break the 2019 record of 3:24.28 set by A. Smith, H. Saraceni, Perkowski, and Rossi.
