Major: Sports and Recreation

Zachary Rayburn is majoring in sports and recreation after choosing Union because of its amazing environment and welcoming atmosphere. He enjoys being part of a close-knit campus community while continuing to develop as both a student and an athlete. Looking ahead, Rayburn hopes to work at a national park, combining his love for the outdoors with a career that allows him to spend time in nature every day.

Outside of soccer, Rayburn enjoys playing disc golf and taking advantage of opportunities to be outside. History was his favorite subject in high school, and his favorite soccer player is Lionel Messi, whose creativity and success have inspired him throughout his career. Chicken chimichangas are his favorite meal, while sweet tea is his drink of choice. On road trips, he's most likely reaching for a Twix, and Instagram is his favorite social media platform.

Rayburn describes himself as a laid-back teammate who is easy to get along with and always willing to listen. He hopes to be remembered as someone who was approachable and good to talk to both on and off the field. He credits Trey Cima for making a positive impact on his life and notes that Quinn Rison is a Union connection through his family and mentors. If he weren't playing soccer, Rayburn says basketball would be his second-best sport.
