Bio
Major: Mathematics
Minor: Physics
Tom Klauser is majoring in mathematics with a minor in physics after choosing Union because of its supportive staff and welcoming environment. As an international student from Germany, he appreciates everyone who has helped make his transition to life in the United States as smooth and comfortable as possible. Klauser hopes to one day work in a career connected to space travel, a field that has fascinated him since he was young and continues to inspire his academic interests.
Outside of soccer, Klauser enjoys reading and expanding his knowledge on a variety of topics. Math was his favorite subject in high school, and his favorite soccer players are legendary goalkeepers Iker Casillas and Manuel Neuer, whose leadership, composure, and excellence between the posts have inspired his own game. His favorite meal is the traditional German dish Gefüllte Flädle, while Paulaner Spezi is his drink of choice. On road trips, he's most likely reaching for Crunchy Peanut Paprika snacks, and Instagram is his preferred social media platform.
Klauser describes himself as a positive, supportive, and calm teammate who enjoys encouraging those around him. He hopes to be remembered for the positive influence he had on both his teammates and the Union community. He has pet fish, and one interesting fact about him is that his older brother shares many of the same interests, earning similar grades and also playing goalkeeper. If he weren't playing soccer, Klauser says tennis would be his second-best sport.
