Union Seeded 7th in NAIA Men's Soccer Tournament

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) officially announced the teams and Opening Round pairings for the 2016 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship, and the seventh-seeded Union College Bulldogs will welcome the Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) Trojans to Williamson Stadium on Saturday.

The 31-team event will get underway with 15 National Championship Opening Round matches at campus locations on Nov. 19. Keiser (Fla.) is the 31st team in the field, but receives an NAIA Opening Round bye due to earning the host berth of the national championship final site in Delray Beach, Fla. The 15 NAIA Opening Round winners will join Keiser in the Sunshine State for national championship final site action. The 16-team single-elimination event runs from Nov. 28-Dec. 3 at the Seacrest Soccer Complex.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Union is the No. 7 seed and enters the tournament with an 18-2-1 overall record. The Bulldogs qualified by winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament, defeating Bryan (Tenn.) 1-0 in overtime for the crown. This is Union's second appearance in the national tournament, going 1-1 in its trip last year.

Hannibal-LaGrange qualified by winning the American Midwest Conference (AMC) regular-season championship with a 10-0-1 league mark. The Trojans enter the postseason with a 12-4-3 overall mark. This is Hannibal-LaGrange's fifth national tournament appearance, but its first since 2012. The Trojans are 2-2-2 in their previous four trips.

While the teams have no common opponents this season, Union did face an AMC team last year in Lyon (Ark.) as the two met in the NAIA Opening Round.

The game will be broadcast live online by the Bulldog Sports Network.
