Bio
A Williamsburg, Kentucky native, Boston Bryant serves as the Head Football Coach at Union Commonwealth University. A proud graduate of Whitley County High School (Class of 2013), Bryant was a standout athlete during his prep career. A four-year starter on the football field, he earned multiple All-State honors and still holds school records for tackles in a game (28), tackles in a season (208), and tackles in a career (580). He also played three years of basketball, averaging 16 points per game as a senior, and wrestled for one season.
Bryant continued his playing career at Wofford College (D1-FCS) in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he was a four-year letter winner on the defensive line and served as a two-year team captain. He appeared in 45 games (16 starts), recording 92 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. He earned Second-Team FCS Freshman All-American honors in 2013. Bryant graduated from Wofford in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Government.
He earned his Master of Arts in Teaching (Post-Secondary Social Studies) from the University of the Cumberlands in 2018 and immediately began his coaching career. From 2017 to 2022, Bryant climbed the coaching ranks at Cumberlands, serving in multiple roles including Inside Linebackers Coach, Defensive Line Coach, and various coordinator roles. During his tenure, the Patriots posted several 10-win seasons and made deep postseason runs, including a trip to the NAIA Quarterfinals in 2019. Under his guidance, multiple players earned All-Conference and All-American honors, including standout defensive linemen Kumi Sarpong Jr., Kendall Adams-Young, and Miles Simon.
In 2023, Bryant took over as Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach at Union College (now Union Commonwealth University). He helped turn around a struggling program, improving the team from 0-10 to 4-6 in his first season. His defense was among the best in the conference, leading in sacks and finishing second in points allowed. Five of his front seven defenders were named All-Conference. In 2024, the Bulldogs finished 3-7, but maintained their defensive standing, leading the league in rushing yards allowed and placing in the top three across most major categories. Four members of the front seven earned All-Conference honors.
In 2025, Bryant was promoted to Head Coach at Union Commonwealth while continuing to coach the defensive line.
Boston is married to his wife, Justice, a Barbourville native and graduate of Knox Central High School. They are the proud parents of three children: Oakland (6), London (3), and Roma. His passion for athletics runs in the family—both of his parents were NAIA student-athletes (his father in football, and his mother in softball), and his sister, Tia Cobb, is a senior at Union majoring in biology and English with a minor in theatre. She also works as a tutor at Union’s Writing Center.
