Major: Nursing

Xander Spears is a Nursing major who values Union’s small-college atmosphere. For him, getting to know everyone on campus makes the experience feel more personal and connected.

His favorite subject in high school was math, and his dream is to become a travel nurse so he can help people in need while exploring new places. Outside of class and football, Xander enjoys lifting weights and staying active.

His football icon is Christian McCaffrey, admired for his versatility and work ethic. Xander’s favorite drink is Baja Blast, and his go-to road trip snack is a Hershey bar with almonds. His top meal choice? Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, peas, and mac & cheese. He’s most active on TikTok and has four pets: Duke (Great Dane), Chica (Chiweenie), and two cats named Sweetness and Tobey.

As a teammate, Xander sees himself as a leader—someone others can look to for guidance and support. He wants to be remembered as a good person who gave his all in everything he did. His second-best sport is track and field.

Something fun and unique about Xander is that he enjoys building Legos in his free time. He credits Karen Wynn, one of his nursing professors, as someone who has had a strong positive impact on his journey at Union.
