McCray named AAC Defensive POTW
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - A Union Bulldog has earned Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time in the 2022 season.
Senior defensive lineman Zion McCray earned that designation on Monday, following a dominant performance against St. Andrews over the weekend. McCray recorded 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, a half sack and even nabbed an interception in the Bulldogs' 27-26 loss.
He is the third Union defender to win the award this season. Safety Terran Cox won it in week two, while linebacker Tramonte Gardner was the recipient in week four.
Union has its second bye week of the season this Saturday, but returns to action with a 12 p.m. road kickoff against Point (Ga.) on Oct. 22.
