Major: Psychology / Substance Abuse Counseling

Kayla Curry is a Psychology and Substance Abuse Counseling major who loves the close-knit, family-like atmosphereat Union Commonwealth University. “Everyone knows everyone,” she says. “I’ve never once felt out of place here at UCU. Go Dawgs!”

Her passion for singing and worshiping at church fuels her spirit, and her dream is to become a middle school science teacher, combining her love for kids, science, and mental health advocacy. In high school, science was her favorite subject, and her cheer inspiration is the University of West Georgia – All Girl and CoEd teams.

Kayla’s go-to drink is Sprite, her favorite snack for road trips is Wheat Thins, and her favorite meal is good old fried taters. She prefers Snapchat for keeping up with friends and shares her home with her chocolate lab, Harlow.

On the sidelines and in everyday life, Kayla considers herself an honest and uplifting teammate, always cheering others on. She hopes to be remembered for her kindness and bubbly spirit, and fun fact—everyone at Union calls her by her full name: “Kayla Curry.”

Some of the people who’ve made a lasting impact on her at Union are Amy Tye and Breonna Williams, and her former dance coach is a Union alum. Off the mat, her second-best sport is women’s basketball.
