Union Hits Three Home Runs, Falls to No. 6 Cumberlands in Midweek Matchup
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University baseball team (4-21, 1-16 AAC) hit three home runs but dropped a midweek contest to No. 6 University of the Cumberlands (23-5, 6-0 MSC) by a score of 24-6 on Tuesday at Terry Stigall Field at Doyle Buhl Stadium.

Union struck first in the top of the opening inning when Max Charlton delivered an RBI to score Cristian Bajjalieha for a 1-0 lead.

The Patriots responded in the bottom half of the inning, plating five runs to take a 5-1 advantage. Marquese Glynn cut into the deficit in the second with a three-run home run, pulling Union within one at 5-4.

Cumberlands took control from there, scoring 14 runs between the second and fourth innings to extend its lead to 19-5.

Charlton added a solo home run in the fifth for Union, while Glynn recorded his second home run of the game in the sixth. However, the Patriots answered with five more runs over the final two innings to secure the 24-6 victory.
