Union Baseball Run-Rules Goshen to Complete Sweep

CORBIN, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University baseball team (3-0) completed a series sweep of Goshen (0-3) on Monday, earning a 10-0 victory in seven innings in a scheduled nine-inning contest.

  • In the bottom of the second inning, Sheppard Graf opened the scoring for the Bulldogs with a solo home run to right field (1-0).

  • Max Charlton continued the Bulldogs' scoring in the second with an RBI double to left-center field, scoring pinch runner Marquese Glynn (2-0).

  • The final run of the inning came on a sacrifice fly by Joaquin Gutierrez, allowing Charlton to score (3-0).

  • Union Commonwealth extended its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Roberto Gallardo delivered a two-RBI single to right-center field, scoring Charlton and Glynn (5-0).

  • Tucker Allen kept the offense rolling in the fifth with an RBI single that brought home Isaiah Pintor (6-0).

  • Brysen Vernon crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Gutierrez, extending the Bulldogs' lead to 7-0.

  • The final runs of the game came later in the sixth inning when Pintor launched a three-run home run, scoring Gutierrez and Gallardo to seal the 10-0 victory and enforce the mercy rule after seven innings.
