Bulldog - The Union Mascot
Although athletics at Union College dates back to 1905, the teams did not have an official nickname until 1925. That year, by a vote of the student body, the Bulldog was selected as the school's nickname.
However, Union did not have a live mascot until the 1960s when - through the efforts of some students - a bulldog was purchased. Mack, a boy, was a mainstay at Union sporting events during his lifetime, even traveling with the 1967-68 men's basketball team to Kansas City, Mo., for the NAIA National Championship Tournament. Unfortunately, Mack passed away in 1972, and it was not until 1999 that Union had another live mascot.
At one point, there was a mascot named Millennium Mack who was called Mille Mack for short. A girl, she received that name in recognition of the new millennium that was about to begin as well as honoring Union's past mascot, Mack. However, due to illnesses over time, Millie Mack was not been able to regularly attend Union athletic events.
There are currently no live mascots, but there is a mascot named Mack who appears at numerous Union games.
