PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Union College volleyball team extended its win streak to five matches following a pair of wins to wrap up the Shawnee State Classic on Saturday.

Union opened the day with a 3-0 sweep over Indiana Tech before dropping a 3-1 loss on Point Park (Pa.).

"The team came out much more focused today, coming out with a 3-0 sweep in the opening match," said head coach Jeremy Wise. "We showed improvement with Point Park and battled all the way to the end for a victory."

Earlier in the season, Point Park handed Union a 3-2 loss.

Maggie McGraw (JR/Elkhorn, Wis.) was the star for the Bulldogs with 21 kills and 21 digs on the day. In the win over Point Park, she posted her second double-double of the weekend with 12 kills and 10 digs to go along with three service aces.

Union finished the tournament going 4-0.

Mach 1 – Union 3, Indiana Tech 0

Union closed out the first set on a strong note, which set the tone for the rest of the match en route to the sweep.

Indiana Tech led 23-19 in the first, but Union did not fade. The Bulldogs closed the frame on a 6-0 run to take the 25-23 set win. Jenna Nelson (SR/Florence, Ky. ) had two kills during the decisive rally.

Union won the next two sets with ease, posting 25-17 and 25-18 wins for the 3-0 sweep.

Jillian Stuff (SR/Marengo, Ohio) had eight kills with four blocks, while Maddie Jergesen (SO/Carson City, Nev.) notched seven kills and five blocks. Carson Gray (JR/Alexandria, Ky.) and Hannah Nash (SO/Owensboro, Ky.) each posted 16 assists.

Match 2 – Union 3, Point Park 1

Four Bulldogs came through with double-digit kills in taking down the Pioneers 3-1.

McGraw and Nelson each hammered home 12 kills, while Elle Barnett (SR/Lexington, Ky.) had 11. Rachel Andrews (SR/Louisville, Ky.) came through with 10 kills and three total blocks.

Union took the first two sets 25-21 and 25-17, but Point Park stole a 25-23 win in the third to pull within 2-1 in the match. However, Union closed out the match with a 25-21 fourth set win.

Nash had 26 assists and eight digs for the Bulldogs, and Paulina Hileman (SR/Johnstown, Colo.) logged 16 digs.
