BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College head men's lacrosse coach Ed Craver announced the addition of Zack Maddox to the 2018 Bulldog roster.

A midfielder, Maddox played for Central Hardin High School (Ky.) for four years and helped the team to the state semifinal round.

"Zack has a quick shot and is an accurate passer," Craver said. "With his dodging ability, he will see time at our attack position this year."

Maddox plans to major in chemistry.

The lacrosse program is new at Union and will take the field for the first time as a varsity program in the spring of 2018. Union will compete in the NAIA and in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Lacrosse is recognized as an Invitational Sport by the NAIA, which means 25 or more institutions have declared intent to participate in postseason competition and the NAIA's National Administrative Council has approved the sport's request for Invitational Sport status. This is the first year lacrosse has been identified as an Invitational Sport in the NAIA. Once the sport has over 40 or more institutions, lacrosse can apply to become a Championship Sport.
