BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College defensive lineman Serge Vita, offensive lineman Kermit Gibbs, and wide receiver Bradley Elkins were named to the Community Trust Bank 2017 Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team by the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This marks the second year in a row Union placed three on the All-Commonwealth Team.

Vita wrapped up his Bulldog career with a stellar senior season in 2016. He ended the regular season leading the NAIA in tackles for a loss (24.0) and in tackles for a loss per game (2.2). He also ranks fourth in sacks (13.0) and sacks per game (1.2). The senior defensive lineman finished with 81 total tackles and was twice named the Mid-South Conference (MSC) East Defensive Player of the Week. Vita earned a spot on the All-MSC East First Team, and this is the second year in a row he made the All-Commonwealth Team.

As a junior in 2016, Gibbs helped pave the way for the Bulldogs to average 405.9 yards in total offense and 26.5 points per game this season. The 291 points rank eighth-most in program history. For his efforts, Gibbs was named to the All-MSC East Second Team.

Elkins led Union in receiving in 2016, hauling in a team-best 35 receptions as a sophomore. He amassed 391 receiving yards for an average of 11.2 yards per catch. He tallied one touchdown and earned a spot on the MSC All-Academic Team.

Union finished the 2016 season 5-6 overall and went 4-2 in Mid-South Conference East play.

Vita, Gibbs, and Elkins will receive their award at the annual Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday at the Lexington Opera House.

The Bulldogs open the 2017 season on Aug. 26 when they play host to the Fire of Southeastern (Fla.). Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
