BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College Director of Athletics Tim Curry announced the 2017 Spring Athletic Director's Honor Roll on Tuesday, honoring Bulldog student-athletes who have recorded a grade-point average of 3.0 or above for the most recent semester.

In all, 236 Bulldogs made the grade, which is the second-most since the honor roll was established in 2011. There were 247 total honorees in the Fall of 2016.

"Our student-athletes continue to show they work hard and strive to pursue excellence both on the field and in the classroom," Curry said. "It is amazing to see the continual improvements in our student-athletes' grades from one semester to another."

Of the honorees, a record 44 posted a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. last semester. The previous record was 36, which was set in Spring 2016. The women's basketball, softball, and men's soccer teams led the way with each having six individuals with a 4.0.

The football team led the way with 34 total honorees, while softball and baseball followed as each had 20 earning the recognition. Men's soccer placed 18 on the list, and volleyball had 17 make the squad. Women's track & field/cross country saw 16 of its student-athletes make the grade.

A total of 13 programs recorded cumulative grade-point averages over 3.0 with women's cycling leading the way with a 3.86. Men's soccer led the men's programs with a 3.09.

As a department, Union recorded a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.05, surpassing the previous high of 3.02 set in Spring 2016. The 11 women's programs each posted a G.P.A. over 3.0 and set a record for combined G.P.A. at 3.33, eclipsing the old mark of 3.31 set last fall. The men's programs tallied a combined G.P.A. of 2.78, which is the second highest ever.
