BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College women's tennis coach Roscoe Moonieyan announced Alina Schweizer and Christina Schoener signed their national letters of intent and will join the Bulldog program for the fall semester.

Schweizer and Schoener are both natives of Germany. While Schoener will join the program as a freshman, Schweizer joins the Bulldogs as a transfer from Evangel University and will be sophomore.

Schweizer comes in ranked at No. 412 in Germany.

"It is great to have Alina join us this year," Moonieyan states. "I am really glad to have her part of our program as she comes in with some good experience being exposed to good competition in Germany and in her first year in college. She is a really great person who will fit in very well with the team and I am excited to see her on court this year."

During her career, Schweizer has placed first place at the Wöhrle Cup during the 2010, 2011, and 2014 year, Juniors Open 2012, and the Vaihinger Löwe 2015, along with a second place finish at the Hobbyland Cup in 2011. She also won numerous state championships in singles and doubles during her career.

Schoener, who is ranked in the top 300 in Germany, has competed in several tournaments taking first place in the Dresdner-Silvester-Cup 2016, and the JenOpen 2017. Schoener also has several second-place finishes in the Ostdeutsche Meisterschaftern, Offene Ostdeutsche Hallenmeisterschaften, Sächsische Landesmeisterschaften 2016, and the Int. Ostdeutsche Meisterschaften 2016.

"I am really excited to have Christina join us this year," Moonieyan adds. "She is a great competitor and a very well rounded player. She is a great person and has experience in team tennis so she will fit in great in a college team. I am looking forward to having her part of the program and am looking forward to seeing her in action this coming year."
