KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The 2017 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) baseball awards were announced Wednesday, and the Union College baseball team placed several members on the All-Conference Teams.

Ronnie Healy (SR/Jupiter, Fla.) and Bruce Valentin (SR/Bronx, N.Y.) earned a place on the All-AAC First Team as Francisco Ogando (JR/Bronx, N.Y.) nabbed a spot on the All-AAC Second Team. Elsewhere, Casey Whittle (SR/Danville, Ky.) was named to the Champions of Character Team.

Healy in his last season with Union earned a spot on the All-AAC first team as he slugged a .358 batting average from the dish with 58 hits. The clean-up hitter also led the team with 13 home runs and a team-high of 53 RBIs and doubles (15). Being one the most dangerous batters in the Union line-up he posted a 10 game hitting streak.

Valentin ended his career with the Bulldogs as one of the most dependable hitters in the line-up batting a .348 at the plate. The senior leads the team in hits (63) and runs (41). While coming in 20th in the NAIA with total assists with 137. He is tied at third for the team in doubles (7), and third with 32 RBIs.

Ogando ended his first season in a Bulldogs jersey batting a .344 at the plate.  The junior was a huge asset to the team in several offensive categories which included hits (56), doubles (12), triples (2), and came in second behind Healy with RBIs (44) and homeruns (9).

Union also had success off the field as Whittle, Zane Britton (SO/Greeneville, Tenn.), Joe Gaines (SO/London, Ky.), Christian Hagy (SO/Pikeville, Ky.), Chris Lane (JR/Battle Ground, Wash.), and Seth Robinson (SR/Covington, Ky.) all were named to the All-AAC Academic team.
