KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Fourth-seeded Reinhardt (Ga.) scored game-winning run in the eighth inning, pulling away from the fifth-seeded Union College baseball team 4-3 at the 2017 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament at Hunter Wright Stadium.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 27-23 overall, while Reinhardt improved to 37-19 with the victory.

After three scoreless innings to open the affair, Reinhardt cracked the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch putting the Eagles up 1-0.

The Eagles tacked on their second run in the bottom of the fourth as Abel Nunez hits his eight home run of the season to increase Reinhardt's lead 2-0.

Union finally got two runs on the board to tie things up with Reinhardt, after Daniel Neal (SO/London, Ky.) singled and J.C. Pena (SR/Perth Amboy, N.J.) reached on an error. With runners in scoring position, Zane Britton (SO/Greeneville, Tenn.) lined a two-run RBI double.

But in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles took back their lead scoring one, bringing the score to 3-2.

Union tied it up again in the eighth as pinch-hitter Tyler Graham (FR/Hopkinsville, Ky.) hit an RBI single to drive Pena once more.

Reinhardt, however, had the last say in scoring the game-winning run off a double and RBI single to advance to the next round of the tournament.

Overall, Britton lead the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, followed by Neal going 2-for-4 and one run scored. On the mound, relief pitcher Logan Groce (SO/Huntland, Tenn.) took the loss, but not before starting pitcher Talon Kunkel (SR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) struck out four in seven innings of work.
