BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College right fielder Francisco Ogando (JR/Bronx, N.Y.) is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Baseball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is Ogando's first career conference weekly award and the first for any Bulldog this season.

Ogando helped Union to a 2-2 record last week, including an AAC series win over Milligan (Tenn.) on Friday and Saturday. He batted .467 (7-of-15) on the week with two doubles, one triple, two home runs, and seven RBIs.

The Bronx, N.Y., native drove in two runs and a homerun in a 5-3 loss at Midway (Ky.) going 4-for-4 at the plate. Ogando topped that performance with a 2-for-5 showing against Milligan during the final day of the series, hitting a double, a triple, and collected three RBIs.

On the year, Ogando is batting .344 with 56 hits in 163 at bats. He has 35 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, and 44 RBIs.

Union is 27-22 overall and 14-13 in AAC play. The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday when they face Reinhardt (Ga.) in the AAC Tournament. First pitch is set for 9 a.m.
