BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College baseball team swung their way to 9-6 win in game three of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series against Reinhardt (Ga.) on Friday.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 25-20 overall and 12-12 in conference play, while Reinhardt falls to 34-18 overall and 14-10 in the AAC.

The Bulldogs jumped out on top and never looked back. In the bottom of the second, Francisco Ogando (JR/Bronx, N.Y.) led off the frame with his seventh home run of the season over center-field fence to give Union a 1-0 lead.

Union came out with the urgency knowing they needed to find its offensive spark and that's just what they did in the fourth, plating five runs on six hits.

However, Reinhardt responded in the following innings, scoring three runs to cut the Bulldogs margin in half and make it a 6-3 game in the seventh inning.

But that would be all the damage Reinhardt would make, as Union scored three insurance runs in the late innings to give themselves some breathing room down the stretch.

The Bulldogs plated one run in the bottom of the seventh after a RBI single from Ogando. Union finished the game scoring an additional two runs in the eight with a RBI single from Joe Gaines (SO/London, Ky.) and a sacrifice fly from Bruce Valentin (SR/Bronx, N.Y.).

In the ninth, Union's defense would then remain solid in the final inning, but not until the Eagles scored off a two-run home run. The Bulldogs then secured the 9-6 game three win over the Eagles.

Overall, Ogando paced the way with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate with two RBIs and a homerun.

On the mound, Union used a combination of arms to collect the victory but it was Talon Kunkel (SR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) who picked up his first win on the season.
