WEST POINT, Ga. - The Union College men's and women's tennis teams opened Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) at Point (Ky.) on Saturday with the men falling 5-4 in a tough battle while the women dropped 6-3 decision.

With the losses, the men are now 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the AAC, and the women fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.

In the men's match, Union battled in doubles play, but Point would win two of the three matches. Union's points came in the No. 3 doubles match as Ethan Wright (JR/Brandenburg, Ky. ) and Tiago Gil (JR/Figeria da Foz, Portugal) teamed up for a 8-4 win over Alonzo Trevizo and Zach Sheeler.

Unions singles, spilt with Point as No. 3 Ewan McKinnie defeats Daniel Blanchard 7-6 (11-9), 6-0. Gil won over Steven Tracy 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 4 spot. Henry St. John (FR/London, England) notched another win for the Bulldogs in No. 6 seed with a 6-3, 6-4 win.

In the women's match, Ljiljana Pajcin (FR/Belgrade, Serbia) along with Carla Delgado in the No. 1 spot took the lone doubles with a score of 8-5. Pajcin and Delgado continued to dominate for Union, winning the No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Pajcin with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Delgado battled for a 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 win.
