COLUMBUS, Ga. – Union College swimmers Iyas Shivji (SO/Nairobi, Kenya) and Kellianne Holck (SR/Island Lake, Ill. ) earned the 2016-17 NAIA Individual Champion of Character Award at the annual Banquet of Champions in Columbus, (Ga.) during the 2017 National Swimming and Diving Championships.

"Kellianne and Iyas are very deserving of this accolade," said head coach Rafael Forti. "They are good role models and exemplify the NAIA Five Core Values. I am happy for them."

To be selected for this honor, both swimmers represented and embraced the Five Core Values of the NAIA, which includes respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship.

The Bulldogs continue to compete at the national meet, which runs through Saturday at the Columbus Aquatic Center.
