BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College's Ronnie Healy (SR/Jupiter, Fla.) went 1-for-3 with a grand slam in pacing an explosive Bulldogs offense to the twin ball sweep over Cincinnati-Clermont, winning game one 11-0 in dominating fashion before capturing the 4-2 game two victory on Saturday.

With the wins, Union improved to 7-6 overall, while the Cougars fall to 0-2 on the young season.

Game One

In game one, Union's offense cracked things open recording 11 runs on 11 hits with no errors while holding Clermont to just five hits.

The Bulldogs set the tone for the entire game as one run scored in the first followed by two in the second. Union added six insurance runs in the fourth to up the margin to 9-0. Healy provided the big boost as he took on a 2-1 pitch over right field fence for grand slam.

In the bottom of the fifth frame, Union tacked on two more runs to secure the 11-0 win.

Michael Castillo (SR/New York, N.Y.) went a 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while J.C. Pena (SR/Perth Amboy, N.J.) went 1-for-2 and two runs scored and drove in a pair of RBI's.

Starting pitcher Dolan Kunkel (JR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) collected the win, allowing no runs on only five hits, while striking out six.

Game Two

Union's offense picked up right where they left off, plating all four runs in the bottom of the first. Pena reached on a walk, followed by a single from Joe Gaines (SO/London, Ky.). Pena later scored on a wild pitch, followed by an RBI from Francisco Ogando (JR/Bronx, N.Y.) to score Gaines. Daniel Neal (SO/London, Ky.) hit a triple to score Ogando, followed by another RBI from DelaMontaigne to score Neal

The Cougars were able to get two runs across, one the first inning on throwing error, and another in the sixth inning, off a wild throw.

Pitching six complete innings, Alex Fuller (SR/Franklin, Ky.) only allowed two hits and two runs with eight strikeouts. Relief pitcher Talon Kunkel (SR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) took the mound to secure the win with one strikeout in facing four batters.

DelaMontaigne ended the second game going 2-for-3 from the plate, while joining Francisco and Neal tallying three RBI's to the stat sheet for the day. Pena and Gaines also had a strong performance with 1-for-3 outing at the plate with two runs apiece.
