KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Union College women's basketball team dropped an 83-68 decision to the No. 1 seed Milligan (Tenn.) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal action, Thursday morning inside the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center.

The loss ends the Bulldogs' season as they finish 17-14 overall, while the Buffaloes improve to 23-8 overall.

Union jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on a Brianna Adler (FR/Burlington, Ky.) and Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) two point shots. Milligan responded by tying it up after Mackenzie Raizor hit back-to-back field goals. Union and Milligan would got back and forth with lead changing hands several times in the first quarter until Spence completed an old-fashioned, three-point play to give Union a 15-14 lead with 2:02 left in the quarter. Milligan battled back tying it up after a basket made by Sarah Robinson tying it 17-17, but an Aaliyah Lumson (JR/Mayfield, Ky.) 3-pointer gave Union a 20-17 lead going into the second quarter.

The Bulldogs spent a majority of the first-half rallying with the Buffaloes. Cheyanne Stidham (SO/Whitesburg, Ky.) would take off in the second quarter hitting back to back two point baskets giving Union fire to keep the lead into the second half. Union went into the locker room with a 44-37 lead on 16-of-29 shooting for 55.2 percent. Stidham led Union with 15 points at the half while Robinson posted 13 points for Milligan.

The second-half started with the Buffalos down by nine, but would fight back to gain the lead at the 6:22 mark hitting 10 points by Milligan as they took the lead to 51-50. Tying the score for the 11th and final time of the game would be Stidham as she hits a two point shot making the score 56-56. Union attempted to come back and take the lead, but Milligan matched every shot Union made plus some of their own.

With Milligan in the lead at the start of the fourth quarter, leading by 10 Union had their work cut out for them. The Bulldogs could never come within 10 points of the Buffaloes as Milligan seemed to hit every shot. The Buffaloes would just increase their lead by 17, until Spence went for layup and closed the gap to 15, but with just 1:30 remaining it was not enough for the Bulldogs to get the win.

Stidham finished with a team-high 19 points for Union on 12-of-18 shooting including five free throws. Spence would end her career with a double-double contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Reagan King (SR/Hindman, Ky.) would also dish out eight points, and four rebounds to finish out the season.

The Buffaloes were led by a game-high 18 points from Hayley Wyrick on 10-of-27 shooting. Sarah Robinson would also give the Buffalos 18 points, along with 10 rebounds, giving her a double-double. Kelly Barnett was one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. While Courtney Wilson and Mackenzie Razor ended the game with 13 points and seven rebounds apiece.

The battle in the paint went to Union, who outscored Milligan 62-58 inside the paint. Union's bench would also outscore the Buffaloes as the Bulldogs bench scored almost half of their points with 35 to Milligan's 16. However, where Milligan would win the game would be in second chance points and points off of turnover with 18-2 in second chance points, and 24-10 in points off of turnovers.
