BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) was one rebound short of collecting another double-double for the final game of the season. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as Union College dropped its the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game 63-56 to Point (Ga.) on Saturday.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 16-13 overall and 10-12 in conference play. The Skyhawks improve to 23-6 on the season and 16-6 in the AAC.

The Bulldogs were the first on the board with a field goal by Spence, but that would not be enough in the first quarter as they fell 13-7. Into the second quarter, Union was forced to step up their game as they battled to hopefully gain momentum before half time. Spence scored as time expired, allowing the Bulldogs to take a 25-24 lead at the half.

The Skyhawk's came crawling back in the second half tying it up 33-33 on a Raven Brown bucket. Point took the lead, as Union tried to rally back, but three free throws from Brianna Adler (FR/Burlington, Ky.) at the end of the third still wouldn't give the Bulldogs what they needed as the Skyhawks led 45-42 heading into the fourth.

Into the fourth quarter, Union grabbed a 48-47 lead after a Dannika Prater (SO/Clarksville, Tenn.) 3-pointer, but Point countered with an 8-0 run in seizing a 55-48 advantage with 5:31 left. Union got the deficit back down to three but was unable to reclaim the lead as Point held on the for 63-56 decision.

Spence lead all scorers with 16 points and nine rebounds, while the Bulldogs shot 40.4 percent from the field. Point hit 35.9 percent of its shots.

Prater added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Aaliyah Lumson (JR/Mayfield, Ky.) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

This was the final home game for seven Bulldog seniors. Prior to the game, Spence, Lumson, Reagan King (SR/Hindman, Ky.), Jenna Mills (JR/Barbourville, Ky.), Taylor Brock (SR/Somerset, Ky. ), Shelby Rudd (JR/Erlanger, Ky.), and Peyton Hisel (SR/Lexington, Ky.) were honored for their years of service to the Bulldog program.

Union will be the No. 8 seed going into the AAC Tournament on Wednesday. The tournament schedule will be released Sunday.
