BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College bowling teams competed in a pair of one-day tournaments over the weekend, and the Union men recorded solid showings in both.

The Union men posted an eighth-place showing out of 17 teams in the Norse Classic in Erlanger, Ky., and followed that with a sixth-place finish at the Eagle Classic in Lexington, Ky., on Sunday.

"The guys had a big weekend and had a real breakthrough in their performance, which is perfect timing with the conference championships coming up soon," said Union coach Brandy Hensley.

At the Norse Classic, William Miaski (FR/Middeburgh, N.Y.) paced the Bulldogs with a sixth-place finish. He tallied a total pinfall of 989 over five games with a high score of 252. Tyler Barnett (JR/Atoka, Tenn.) was next in line for Union, checking in 25th overall with a pinfall of 915.

Thomas Reinhardt (SO/McHenry, Ill.) collected All-Tournament Team honors at the Eagle Classic as he place third overall. Jerry Whobrey (FR/Louisville, Ky.) nearly joined him on the All-Tournament Team as he came in sixth. Trenton Schaibly (SO/Portland, Mich.) registered a 19th-place finish.

The Union women picked up an eighth-place finish at the Norse Classic and came in 10th at the Eagle Classic.

"The team is still young, but they are continually improving and have a bright future ahead of them," Hensley said.

Three Bulldogs posted top-25 finishes at the Norse Classic. Julia Edenfield (FR/Jacksonville, Fla.) led the way in coming in eighth with a pinfall of 988, while Kylee Saunders (SR/Hixson, Tenn.) and Andrea Claypool (JR/Taylor, Mich.) placed 15th and 24th, respectively. Saunders posted a pinfall of 903 with Claypool registering an 864 pinfall.

At the Eagle Classic, Saunders posted a team-bes,t 26th-place finish.
