MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – The Union College women's basketball team suffered another setback Saturday as it dropped a 66-55 Appalachian Athletic Conference contest to host Milligan (Tenn.).

The loss drops Union to 15-10 overall and 9-9 in conference play, placing it in a tie for seventh in the league standings with Bluefield (Va.). Milligan improves to 18-8 overall and 14-4 in the AAC.

The Bulldogs started the game hot, opening up a 10-2 lead following a Reagan King (SR/Hindman, Ky.) bucket with 4:19 left in the first. However, the Buffaloes rallied to tie the score at 15-all by the end of the quarter.

Milligan opened the second period on a 6-2 spurt to build a 21-17 advantage. Union got the margin down to two, but a 9-4 run sent Milligan into the half with a 32-25 advantage.

In the third, the Buffaloes pushed the margin to 46-31 midway through the period. Union responded with an 8-1 spurt to close out the frame to head into the fourth down 47-39.

The Bulldogs continued to fight, pulling within 49-46 after an old-fashioned, three-point play from King with 7:25 remaining. Yet, Milligan countered with a 13-2 surge to open up a 62-48 cushion with 3:11 to play. Union outscored Milligan 7-4 in the closing moments of the game, but it was too little, too late as Milligan recorded the 66-55 victory.

Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) paced the Bulldogs with 14 points, while Aaliyah Lumson (JR/Mayfield, Ky.) added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

For Milligan, Lindsee Price's 16 points set the tone with Hayley Wyrick and Sarah Robinson each chipping in 15. Robinson also had 15 rebounds for a double-double. Courtney Wilson knocked in 12 points as well.
