SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Union College men's and women's bowling teams competed at the Lindsey Wilson College Baker Classic over the weekend, posting 10th- and sixth-place finishes, respectively.

Pikeville (Ky.) won both the men's and women's competition.

For the men, the team tallied a total pinfall of 6,375 after the 10 Baker games to put it 27 ahead of 11th-placed Tennessee Wesleyan. Ninth-place Campbelsville (Ky.) finished at 6,719.

The Bulldogs best game was in third block of the tournament when they rolled a 735. The team's next best round checked in a 683.

The Union women started the tournament off hot, posting three rounds of 729, 733 and 716 during the first five blocks on Saturday to help it to third place in standings. However, the Bulldogs could not keep the momentum rolling on Sunday, recording one game over 700 at 709.

Union finished sixth at 6,732, which was 232 more than Bethel (Tenn.). Cumberlands (Ky.) finished just ahead of Union at 6,850.

Both the Union men and women return to action this weekend when they will participate in the Norse Classic in Erlanger, Ky., on Saturday and the Eagle Classic in Lexington, Ky., on Sunday.
