BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College men's swimming and diving head Coach Rafael Forti announced the signing of Henrique Marcondes Saraceni. Saraceni will join the Bulldogs in the fall of 2017 from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil.
He has been competing since 2012 in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.
"I am glad to have Henrique joining our program in the fall," Forti mentions. "He is a national level breaststroker who will make our already strong men's breaststroke staff even stronger. Not only that, he also possesses great speed in freestyle and butterfly events, bringing more depth to our sprint events and all team relays in general.
"He has been coached by a great professional in Brazil over the last few years in club, and that will help him adjust well to his new routines at Union College," the Bulldog coach continued. "I am looking forward to start working with him."
Saraceni has been coached by Marco Veiga at the Clube Paineriras do Morumbi, where he was been a finalist at the Brazilian Junior National Championship since 2014 with breaststroke events.
The son of Ricardo Lellis Saraceni and Beatriz Marcondes Saraceni plans to pursue a degree in business.
Saraceni said of coming to Union, "I have really good expectations because Union College has everything that I need to study and train hard. There are excellent academics, a great infrastructure and very good coaches which will help me to continue to get better."
